Good morning Somerset Westers!

I would like to start off this newsletter with apologising for not posting over the last week. I was dealing with some health issues.

I hope everyone has managed to recover from the hectic weather we had last week, thankfully it doesn’t look like we are going to have rain for a while.

Now without further ado, todays addition:

Residents across the Western and Eastern Cape are still dealing with the aftermath of severe weather that recently swept through the region.

And for many communities, the clean up is still ongoing.

Here’s what was reported during the storm:

  • Flooded roads and damaged infrastructure

  • Roofs blown off homes in some areas

  • Strong winds and heavy rainfall across the Cape

  • Emergency response teams deployed to affected communities

The storm serves as another reminder of how quickly severe weather can impact communities across the Cape.

Good News for Petrol Drivers in South Africa

If you drive a petrol vehicle, there’s finally some positive news at the pumps.

After months of fuel price pressure, current forecasts are showing that petrol price increases for June may be smaller than expected — bringing some relief for motorists.

While prices are still expected to rise slightly, the outlook has improved compared to earlier predictions linked to global oil prices and market instability.

Here’s the good news for motorists:

  • Petrol price increases may be lower than expected

  • Fuel price forecasts have improved in recent weeks

  • Global oil prices have started stabilising

  • Drivers could avoid bigger hikes that were previously predicted

Diesel prices remain under pressure, but petrol users may see less of an impact heading into the next fuel adjustment.

After several months of rising fuel costs, it’s a small but welcome bit of relief for South African motorists.
