Time for Helderberg's Rugby Clubs

With the 2026 club rugby season nearing its end, teams across the Helderberg are battling for league positions, survival and promotion ahead of next year's restructured Western Province competitions.

Helderberg RFC strengthened their position in Super League A with an impressive 48–21 victory over Maties, leaving them second on the log. In Super League B, Macassar RFC have secured their place for next season, while All Saints need a final-round victory to have a chance of avoiding relegation. St George's, meanwhile, will drop to Super League C in 2027.

In Super League C, Sir Lowrians beat Raithby Universals 21–10, with both clubs securing places in the new Super League D next year. The outlook is tougher for Strand RFC and Strand United, who currently occupy the bottom two positions and face relegation to the regional leagues.

With the final fixtures deciding several clubs' futures, there's still plenty at stake for rugby teams across the Helderberg.

Free Export Courses For Western Cape Businesses

Western Cape businesses looking to expand internationally can now access a free online export course launched by the provincial government in partnership with the International Trade Institute of Southern Africa.

The self-paced nine-module course covers practical areas such as export readiness, international marketing, logistics, customs procedures, financial risk, product classification and export compliance. It is aimed at entrepreneurs, SMMEs and export professionals wanting to better understand how to enter and operate in international markets.

More than 500 people have already registered, with over 70 completing the programme. The initiative forms part of the Western Cape's broader strategy to help local businesses reach new markets, increase exports and support economic growth and job creation.

Home Delivery Scam Warning

South Africans who regularly shop online are being warned about growing risks surrounding home deliveries, with both customers and courier drivers increasingly being targeted by criminals.

Fraudsters are sending fake delivery messages that closely resemble legitimate courier notifications, often requesting a small “release fee”. Once paid, criminals can capture the victim’s bank card details and use them for further fraud. At the same time, courier drivers are increasingly being targeted for valuable parcels, electronics and delivery vehicles.

Consumers are advised to double-check unexpected delivery messages and payment requests, while couriers are being encouraged to stick to planned routes, avoid isolated stops and remain alert for suspicious vehicles following them.
