Celebrating a Community Champion
The Helderberg community is remembering the life and legacy of Phumzile Williams, whose dedication to supporting women, children, and vulnerable families left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Through years of community service and advocacy, Williams became a respected figure known for her compassion, leadership, and commitment to helping those in need. Her work inspired many and strengthened support networks across the Helderberg.
Her legacy continues to live on through the people she uplifted and the organisations she supported, serving as a reminder of the lasting difference one person can make in their community.

First Look at Western Cape's New Airport
Plans for the new Cape Winelands Airport are moving forward, with developers revealing updated designs and fresh details about what could become Cape Town's second commercial airport.
The redevelopment will transform the existing Fisantekraal airfield into a modern aviation hub, featuring a 3.5km runway, a new passenger terminal, cargo facilities, and a mixed-use precinct. The airport is expected to improve regional connectivity, support tourism, and ease pressure on Cape Town International Airport. Construction is expected to begin later in 2026, subject to final approvals, with the first phase targeted for completion in 2028.
The project is expected to create thousands of jobs and strengthen the Western Cape's transport infrastructure, making it one of the province's largest planned developments in recent years.
The Retirement Mistake Many South Africans Make
Many South Africans are living longer than ever before, and while that's good news, it also means retirement savings need to last much longer.
Experts say many traditional retirement plans were designed for a shorter retirement, leaving people at greater risk of running out of money later in life.
Here's why experts say it's time to rethink retirement:
People are living longer than previous generations
Retirement savings may need to last 20–30 years or more
Many South Africans aren't saving enough for retirement
Starting early and reviewing your plan regularly is becoming more important than ever
Financial experts encourage people to review their retirement plans regularly and adjust their savings as their circumstances change, rather than relying on older assumptions about retirement.
