Yellow Level 4 Warning Issued

Residents across Cape Town and the Western Cape are being urged to prepare for severe weather as a powerful cold front brings heavy rain, strong winds, and rough sea conditions. Authorities have placed emergency services on standby as the system moves through the province.

Here is what’s happening:

  • A Yellow Level 4 warning has been issued for disruptive rainfall

  • 30–60mm of rain is possible in parts of Cape Town and the Cape Winelands

  • Strong winds could make driving difficult, especially for high-sided vehicles

  • Residents are advised to clear gutters, secure loose outdoor items, and stay alert for localised flooding

Officials are urging residents to take precautions and monitor weather updates as the storm is expected to bring potentially disruptive conditions across the region.

Police Identify Protest Hotspots

Police have stepped up security preparations ahead of the planned 30 June demonstrations, saying they have identified several areas that could experience unrest.

Authorities say they are prepared to protect peaceful protests but have warned that any violence, intimidation, or criminal activity will not be tolerated.

Here is what’s happening:

  • Police have identified potential violence hotspots across the country

  • Additional officers have been deployed ahead of the protests

  • The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is on standby if needed to protect critical infrastructure

  • Authorities say peaceful protests are allowed, but violence and lawlessness will be dealt with swiftly

Officials have assured the public that extensive planning is in place and are encouraging residents to remain calm while avoiding any areas where protests may take place.
