A Fresh Start for Dining at Vergelegen

If you’ve visited Vergelegen Estate before, you’ll know it’s known for its beautiful dining spots. After a recent fire closed the Stables restaurant, something new has taken its place.

Firehorse is a temporary open-air restaurant set under the estate’s trees, offering a relaxed atmosphere and scenic mountain views.

What to expect:

  • Bistro-style meals with seasonal flavours

  • Outdoor dining in a laid-back setting

  • Views of the surrounding mountains

  • A reimagined Stables experience

It’s a simple but thoughtful way to keep dining alive on the estate while restoration continues.

If you’re looking for a unique wildlife experience in Somerset West, the Cheetah Outreach offers something a little different from a typical day out.

This conservation centre focuses on protecting cheetahs while giving visitors the chance to learn about them up close.

Well, it’s more than just a visit — it’s an educational experience built around awareness and conservation.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Up-close encounters with cheetahs and other animals

  • Educational talks and guided tours about conservation

  • Interactive experiences like supervised cheetah encounters

  • A focus on protecting endangered species and raising awareness

The centre is open daily, and visitors can explore at their own pace, with optional animal encounters available at set times.

A Night of Recognition for Top Suppliers

If you’re involved in agriculture or retail supply, you’ll know how important strong partnerships are behind the scenes.

That’s exactly what was celebrated at the latest Agrimark Supplier Awards, held at a Somerset West estate. The event brought together key partners to recognise performance, innovation, and long-term collaboration.

Agrimark honoured 39 supplier partners across multiple categories, highlighting the businesses that help keep its operations running smoothly.

Here’s what stood out from the event:

  • 39 suppliers recognised for excellence

  • Multiple award categories across different sectors

  • Top honours awarded to standout companies like PPC Cement and Zibo Containers

  • A strong focus on partnerships and performance

The awards are part of an ongoing effort to recognise suppliers who deliver quality, reliability, and value to the Agrimark network.

For Somerset West, hosting the event highlights the region’s role in South Africa’s agricultural and business landscape — bringing industry leaders together in one place.
