New N2 Cameras Go Live
Motorists travelling into Cape Town on the N2 are being urged to stay out of the dedicated bus lane after reports that new enforcement cameras have been installed and are now operational.
According to reports, the upgraded cameras can detect drivers who illegally use the bus lane, with offenders potentially facing fines of up to R1,500. While no official announcement has yet confirmed the rollout, drivers are being reminded that the lane is reserved for authorised public transport during designated times.
The reported upgrades are intended to improve traffic flow and keep public transport moving efficiently, making it more important than ever for motorists to pay attention to road signs and remain in the correct lane.

Beware This Grocery Store Scam
South Africans are being warned about a scam that is resurfacing outside major supermarkets, including Pick n Pay, Checkers, Woolworths, and SPAR, where fraudsters take advantage of shoppers' generosity.
The scam typically involves someone asking for food instead of cash, often claiming they only need a few basic groceries. After a shopper pays, the scammer allegedly returns the items to the store for a cash refund before approaching another unsuspecting customer. In one recent incident in Strand, a couple spent around R300 on groceries, only to witness the items being returned for cash minutes later.
Police are encouraging people who want to help those in need to donate through recognised charities and welfare organisations instead. Shoppers are also reminded to check the amount on the card machine carefully before paying, even when making purchases for someone requesting assistance.
