Good News for South African Passport Holders

South Africans planning an overseas trip could soon have more travel options, with several airlines expanding their international routes and increasing flight frequencies from South Africa. The changes are expected to improve connectivity while creating more competitive airfares.

Among the developments are additional flights between Cape Town and Europe, expanded services to destinations across Africa, and improved connections to Latin America. The increased capacity is expected to make international travel more convenient for both business and leisure travellers while providing greater flexibility when booking flights.

The expanded routes come as demand for international travel continues to recover, offering South African passport holders more choice and potentially better value when planning trips abroad.

Theatre Legend Visits Helderberg

Renowned South African theatre director and playwright Janice Honeyman will share the story of her remarkable 60-year career when she addresses the next U3A Helderberg meeting in Somerset West on Wednesday, 5 August.

In a talk titled Against All Odds, Honeyman will reflect on her journey from feeling like a schoolgirl "misfit" to becoming one of South Africa's most celebrated theatre practitioners. Her career has spanned theatre, opera, musicals, children's productions and television, including helping establish the Market Theatre Company and directing numerous acclaimed productions both locally and internationally.

The presentation begins at 10:00am at the DR Church Helderberg, 82 Firmount Road, Monte Sereno. Entry is free for U3A Helderberg members, while visitors pay R20 at the door, offering the community a rare opportunity to hear first-hand from one of South Africa's most influential figures in the performing arts.
